Dear Colleagues, On behalf of Wiley-Blackwell and the Scientific Committee, I am pleased to invite you to the second annual “Excellence in Paediatrics” international conference, in London, UK from 2-4 December 2010. “Excellence in Paediatrics” aims to present an up-to-date and authoritative overview of paediatrics & child health using a variety of innovative sessions designed to interest general paediatricians and general practitioners, including trainees as well as specialists in the field. Wiley-Blackwell, presenters of the conference, publishes many of the world’s leading journals and textbooks in the field and the Scientific Committee of “Excellence in Paediatrics” has been drawn from its international group of journal editors. This year’s thematic streams include infectious disease and immunisation, respiratory medicine (in collaboration with the European Paediatric Association - EPA/UNEPSA and the Cochrane Child Health Field) and neurological and neurodevelopmental paediatrics, as well as sessions devoted to adolescent medicine, nutrition and many other fields of interest. Distinguished speakers from many countries will present plenary sessions and there will be parallel workshops, round table discussions and debates on controversial areas. Interactive case reports will involve the audience as will sessions on how to solve problems while seeing patients using immediate technology aids to discover the available evidence-base. Those with work in progress will be invited to book for a special ‘Meet the Editor’ session, while poster sessions will feature all accepted abstracts. The authors of those of highest quality will be offered an oral presentation and receive “Excellence in Paediatrics Awards”. Abstracts will be published as a supplement to the Journal Acta Paediatrica and should be submitted at www.excellence-in-paediatrics.org for consideration.
